Day 3 of My Egg Fast: Unexpected Results and Weightloss

So, what exactly is an egg fast? If you’ve never come across this concept before, you might be wondering if it's all about eating just eggs and butter. Essentially, yes! The basic rules are quite simple: eat as many eggs as you want throughout the day, prepared however you like, along with a form of fat, like butter. Some follow a guideline of one tablespoon of butter per egg, but I found that less butter worked for me. Some also allow a little cheese, herbs and spices for flavouring.

Why Egg Fast?

The motivation behind this diet experiment was twofold: my attempt to break through a weight loss stall, and also observing the impact on my blood glucose and ketone levels, as I strive to reverse insulin resistance.

I’m also trying to work out if eggs actually cause inflammation or other issues in my body. Over the years, I’ve periodically struggled with eggs leading to various digestive issues. This egg fast was an opportunity to (hopefully) determine once and for all if eggs still cause me any issues while at the same time, serving my curious nature as to what this is all about and what benefits I might notice.

The Effects of Eating Just Eggs

I had a bit of digestive issue, mainly diarrhea in the mornings each day so far, leaving me unsure whether it was a detox response or a sensitivity to eggs. However, the weight was coming off, and I wasn’t experiencing any serious discomfort.

Despite some temporary toilet urgency each morning, I’ve not been left feeling ill after meals, and in fact I’ve been feeling really good!

Weight and Health Results so Far

The morning of day three I had shed about 900 grams, with lowered blood glucose and impressive ketone levels. This positive change prompted me to consider that the benefits might outweigh the occasional discomfort!

Interestingly, my long-time battle with vertigo showed alittle improvement also, possibly linked to improved ketone levels.

Day 3 and Beyond?

I don't have a definitive end date for this egg fast just yet. While I initially planned for two or three days, as long as my body copes well and I continue to see these positive changes, I might extend it to five days. We’ll see how it pans out.

So I’ll be back with another update once I’ve finished. Stay tuned!
