It's time for another update on my weight loss adventure, and I am really excited to share how allulose has been a game-changer for my blood glucose and ketone levels.
I’ve been riding this crazy carnivore-ketovore wave since May 2022, and I've discovered that a mostly meat diet does wonders for our health. It has truly turned my health around.
However, despite the health benefits, losing weight has been a whole different ball game...
My Weight Loss Struggles
Let me take you back. My weight loss journey has been pretty much lifelong, and in these last three years of eating a carnivore/ketovore diet, where most people drop pounds with ease, my weight loss has been super slow.
I’ve had a little weight loss. About 10kg over the three years. But it has seemed that no matter how dedicated I’ve been, what I’ve changed, the weight just wouldn’t shift any faster and honestly, over the whole of 2024 I’d been basically stalled.
So I started this year with new determination and jumped into a strict carnivore challenge, but eventually had to go back to my usual ketovore way of eating because of pesky histamine intolerance symptoms - once again!
Enter Allulose
Feeling a bit stumped and eager to find a solution, I decided to try using allulose as a supplement. I’d been listening to various doctors and experts talking about it and I was intrigued.
Allulose is a rare sugar that seemed very promising for blood sugar control.
I've always struggled with higher fasting glucose levels and not getting into ketosis, so I thought, why not give allulose a try?
At first, I was a little skeptical. But slowly, I increased my intake and began to notice a real difference.
Seeing the Change
And wow! What a change! My glucose levels started dropping to healthier numbers, and my ketones were on the rise. And I’ve been feeling the impact, especially in my brain—it was like switching on a light! My mood has been amazing. My anxiety way down. Writing has become easier, and even my typing speed bounced back with such accuracy, I feel like a teenager again!
Well maybe not quite… But my typing speed is sure way more like it used to be back then!
And Finally Some Weight Loss…
I’m thrilled to say that I’ve lost over three kilos since I started in January—averaging about half a kilo a week! What a relief. The bonus? I’ve hardly felt hungry thanks to the allulose. Fasting is way easier!
I’ve realised that focusing on higher ketones and lower glucose levels is key to reversing insulin resistance and improving my metabolic health so that I can drop this excess weight.
Wrapping it Up
So far, it seems that Allulose is turning out to be the hero in my weight loss story. I can't wait to share more as things progress.
